Choose either a complete carcass sampling kit or purchase items individually. The complete cattle/swine kit enables you to take 15 samples. Each kit includes 25 mL buffer solution, a template, sample sponge with gloves, and a sample bag. We offer Butterfield's buffer for E.coli testing or buffered peptone water for Salmonella testing.
Each screw-cap bottle is filled with 25 mL of buffer. There is a demarcation at 15 mL so you can easily perform the USDA recommended procedures for sample preparation and collection. Templates are sterile, individually wrapped pieces of flexible plastic that conform to the uneven surfaces encountered during carcass sampling. Choose either a cattle template to sample a 10 x 10 cm area on a beef or swine carcass, or the poultry template to sample a 5 x 10 cm area on a turkey carcass.
