Mat
VP of Corporate Responsibility & Development
I firmly believe business can be a force for good. Nelson-Jameson is a compelling example that businesses can and should be doing more to be better citizens. I also genuinely enjoy getting to know people and making lasting business connections where we can mutually grow and develop as good corporate citizens.
Harnessing his extensive experience in the education field, Mat first joined Nelson-Jameson as a researcher and writer. After five years in the role, he joined the team full-time in 2014.
As VP of Corporate Responsibility & Development at Nelson-Jameson, Mat works with suppliers/manufacturers, customers, academic programs, regulatory authorities, and others to push forward programs of mutual growth, education, and service to the food industry. His passion is helping Nelson-Jameson’s customers create safe, quality food in a sustainable way.
Mat’s position allows him to be a conduit between this diverse set of interests in the food industry, with a consistent aim to continue to grow Nelson-Jameson's presence as a good steward and citizen of the dairy and food industries.
Mat was elected to Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association Board of Directors and Wisconsin Section of the Institute of Food Technologists. He has served on numerous food safety advisory committees for the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy and has worked closely with various academic programs including: the University of Idaho, Cornell, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and UW-River Falls. He has guest lectured and presented at many academic institutions and industry events and developed and launched Nelson-Jameson's sustainability and corporate responsibility program.
He has a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and was Summa Cum Laude, a MA from Bowling Green State University, and a PhD from Michigan State University.
