HART Equine Therapeutic Center

Horse Power

A true play on words, "horsepower" refers to both the power of the horse and the transformative power of the therapy itself.

Hart Equine Therapeutic Center has that specific type of horsepower. Their unique service provides interactions with horses to improve the physical, emotional, and cognitive functioning of individuals with special needs. Treatment plans are tailored to clients to ensure they get the most from their sessions. Students can develop important skills such as communication, trust, and empathy, which, in return, can improve overall well-being.

Students will engage with horses in activities such as therapeutic horseback riding lessons, grooming, and groundwork. Lesson plans are focused on the student and horse interaction while working to improve balance, communication, muscle strength, and self-esteem.

HART was founded in December 2013 as a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization to share the benefits of equine therapy. Through basic horsemanship and education, therapeutic riding serves as an effective therapeutic tool that assists students in achieving life goals and improving health. Located outside of Marshfield, HART resides Auburndale, a small village of less than 1000 people.
