Walk to End Alzheimer's

"Alzheimer's is the cleverest thief because she not only steals from you, but she steals the very thing you need to remember what's been stolen."- Jared Kintz

Often considered a personal disease, Alzheimer's disease can transform a loved one into another version of themselves that is detached and spiritless. Affecting memories and personality, the disease also limits or completely takes away the ability to communicate or connect with others like they used to do. As the disease progresses, mood and behavior can either elevate or deteriorate, making it difficult for family and friends to recognize their loved ones. Alzheimer's is often associated with aging, and it can be highly challenging for family members to watch loved ones in a loss of independence, agitation, or confusion.

The Alzheimer's Association® —a leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, and research—sets out to raise awareness and funds each year through the Walk to End™ Alzheimer's. More than 600 communities nationwide get on their walking shoes and dress in purple to raise critical funds to allow the Alzheimer's Association to advance research toward treatment and, ultimately, a cure.

The Nelson-Jameson Foundation joins the fight against Alzheimer's by contributing funds and gathering together a Nelson-Jameson walking team to inspire and encourage others to get involved. It is hard not to take it personally when the disease impacts you and your loved ones. With deeply rooted values, the Nelson Family does not overlook the importance of family. Building a successful business on this essential bond, Nelson-Jameson recognizes and shows appreciation for the vital roles that our families and loved ones hold in our lives. Ultimately, these bonds inspire us to strive for greatness and create a lasting impact. Love for family is a lot stronger than what Alzheimer's steals away.

In every Alzhemier's story, there is a person we deeply love. Mother, Father, Grandparent, Brother, Sister, Neighbor. Husband. Wife. Child. We must remember them even when they may not remember us.

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer's disease—at least, not yet, but we strive to get there.
