Designed to open and close the spray nozzle on your command.  When you squeeze the lever arm to force water to dispense out of the hose, the guide allows you to safely and effectively release the water.  This vital part of your nozzle acts as the driving force behind your spray unit.  Without it, the water pressure would be released uncontrollably and could lead to more serious complications.
