“People First” Culture Drives Enhanced Employee Wellness Services at Food Processing Distributor Nelson-Jameson

Human resources department expands with Health and Wellness Coordinator and additional talent

MARSHFIELD, WI | Nelson-Jameson, a leading food processing distributor with roots in dairy production supplies, has expanded its Human Resources (HR) department with three new hires, a newly created Health & Wellness Coordinator position, and an expanded array of employee wellness services. The investment in HR is part of the company’s “people first” culture and its long-standing tenet that employees are its greatest asset. The HR department has outlined a full-year plan to implement the expanded services to its more than 260 employees across the U.S.

“Our ‘people first’ culture is not just a slogan. It’s an operating principle we take very seriously, and we are continuously looking for relevant, practical ways to invest in employee health and well-being,” says Nelson-Jameson President Mike Rindy. “We are thrilled to elevate the support we provide to employees and welcome new human resources talent to our team.”

In the spirit of employee engagement, the Nelson-Jameson leadership team rolled out an employee preference survey as part of the HR services expansion and received more than 150 responses. Questions ranged from communication channel and work timeframe preferences to rankings on new employee program ideas and wellness benefits. Its new hires will continue to manage and develop the wellness programs as part of a comprehensive HR plan for the year. Vice President of Employee Experience Heather Simcakoski leads the HR team and has hired these additional team members:

  • Missy Skurzewski-Servant - Director of Recruiting and Talent Management
  • Lindsy Cassata - Talent Acquisition Specialist
  • Mackenzie Raab - Health & Wellness Coordinator

“Nelson-Jameson is continuing to break new ground in the industry with its
HR leadership,” says Simcakoski. “For example, it’s extremely rare to have a full-time position devoted to health and wellness. The department also does so much more than the basic HR functions – its team provides professional development guidance for employees and support programs to foster healthy work/life balance.”

The HR team will track and share monthly wellness reports to monitor progress, feedback, and implementation success.
