Grown in acidic bogs and processed in the USA, cranberries are harvested from low, flowering evergreen shrubs. Fresh cranberries are partially dehydrated similar to the process of making grapes into raisins. The superfruit is sliced into easy and convenient 1/2" halves and then infused with sucrose to offset the natural bitterness and create the velvet soft texture when chewing. Berries are dehydrated and then lightly sprayed and coated with sunflower oil. Light to deep red in color, the ruby hue pairs well with the bright, sweet-tart flavor.
