Reddish brown, dark liquid produced by extraction of annatto pigments from the seeds of the annatto tree using aqueous potassium hydroxide. Major coloring principle is norbixin. Color can yield shades from yellow to orange depending on application, processing, and quantity used. Kosher Pareve, Halal certified, and vegetarian.
