Bartovation Milk Mastitis Test For LDH In Cow Milk

Mastitis is a common and costly disease in the dairy industry. Fortunately, detecting it early is affordable and easy with a cow-side subclinical dipstick test. This test measures LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), an enzyme that is released into the milk when udder tissue is damaged and cells are compromised due to an infection. Testing for LDH is just as effective, if not more effective, than testing for SCC (somatic cell count) and provides earlier detection because LDH levels often increase earlier than SCC. While LDH is related to SCC, it is not as easily affected by other issues such as stress, nutrition, parity, and stage of lactation, making it a more reliable indicator for determining an udder infection. The best part is that no additional equipment is needed for this test.
