An indication of the safety of a dairy product, measuring the effectiveness of pasteurization. The test is based on the detection of the phosphatase enzyme, a constituent of raw milk which is destroyed by pasteurizing. If pasteurization is faulty, some phosphatase remains and can be detected.
Reagent Tablets: Prepare solution by dissolving one tablet in 5 mL Methyl Alcohol. Makes sufficient solution for 25 to 30 tests.
Not recognized as an official test in the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) for Grade A milk.
