Scharer Rapid Phosphatase Test Kit

An indication of the safety of a dairy product, measuring the effectiveness of pasteurization. The test is based on the detection of the phosphatase enzyme, a constituent of raw milk which is destroyed by pasteurizing. If pasteurization is faulty, some phosphatase remains and can be detected.

The first major improvement to the Scharer rapid phosphatase test in many years. The required n-butyl alcohol (534-3130) and methyl alcohol (534-3132) must be ordered separately.

Kit contains: (1) removable 9-tube rack, (9) graduated tubes w/screw caps, set of 3 color standards, (1) plastic filter sheet, (2) glass stir rods, (12) glass dropping pipettes w/rubber bulbs, (2) amber glass bottles, (1) 50 mL graduated bottle, (50) buffer control tablets, (50) CQC reagent tablets, (50) buffer substrate tablets, and instructions.

Not recognized as an official test in the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) for Grade A milk.
