Instances of animal abuse that have recently surfaced in the media and online are of concern for the general public and the food industry alike. Nelson-Jameson whole-heartedly believes in protecting and ensuring the proper care of animals on the farm. For this reason, we want to express our support and provide information for our customers, suppliers, and other interested parties on programs like the National Milk Producers Federation’s National Dairy “FARM Program.”
The National Milk Producers Federation’s FARM program is: “a nationwide, verifiable animal well-being program that provides consistency and uniformity to best practices in animal care and quality assurance in the dairy industry. The program aims to provide a consistent platform for animal well-being.” According to UC Davis’s Veterinary Medicine School, the program consists of a: “comprehensive set of animal care guidelines developed by veterinarians, animal scientists and dairy farmers. Individual dairy farms in the program are evaluated, in-person, by a certified evaluator according to the program's guidelines. Initial on-farm evaluations are followed by a third-party program verification process where independent experts are used to verify results.”
