The University Foundation at UW-Stevens Point

The University Foundation not only helps traditional and non-traditional students achieve continuing education opportunities, but it also supports further activities and programs for students and community members to discover their passions and reach their full potential.

The University Foundation was established soon after the then-named UW-Marshfield / Wood County campus opened its doors in 1960. The enlightened curiosity to always keep learning set Earl Nelson, co-founder of Nelson-Jameson, Inc., on a dedicated quest to help establish a place for individuals to achieve greatness within themselves. Knowing humans have the ability to create great things and do good things for humankind, Earl was a key driver in the development of the University of Wisconsin campus. The University Foundation generates private contributions to further support teaching and learning at the Marshfield campus.

Earl recognized the significant impact the UW Campus would have on Marshfield’s community with its educational, cultural, and economic landscape. Since the construction of the UW Center in 1960, Nelson-Jameson, Inc. has maintained a strong connection with the campus. Taking great pride in contributing to the future of the campus and its students, Nelson-Jameson, Inc., is honored to continue making valuable investments that enrich lives.

Recently Nelson-Jameson, Inc. made a financial donation to The University Foundation. This contribution will further fund scholarships and invest in the reinvigoration of part of the campus to mark the 60th Anniversary in 2024.

The UW Center, now renamed UW-Steven Point at Marshfield, not only provides opportunities for various degrees and collaborative programs to achieve academic goals, the campus also cherishes the cultural contributions. Among visual arts and musical and theatrical performances, the UWSP Campus features a 99-acre arboretum, a rare and valuable vegetation remnant that once covered Central Wisconsin. Under the protection of the University of Wisconsin, the Arboretum continues in its natural development and serves as an educational and recreational resource.
